Chamborand and its abandoned Dungeon
Chamborand un petit village tranquille de campagne, il est remarquable par son imposant donjon médiéval abandonné,
vestige d'un ancien château fort du XIIe siècle, rénové au XVe siècle. Le donjon, bien que partiellement à l'intérieur,
trône sur une hauteur, entouré d'arbre et en surplomb d'un bel étang... de quoi faire rêver les amateurs de
vielles pierres.
La petite église de Chamborand est également à voir, elle semble tronquée et offre un intérieur douillet.
Chamborand is a small quiet countryside village, it is remarkable for its imposing abandoned medieval dungeon,
vestige of an ancient 12th century fortress, renovated in the 15th century. The dungeon, although partially
inside, stands on a height, surrounded by trees and overlooking a beautiful pond... enough to make lovers
of old stones dream.
The small church of Chamborand is also worth seeing, it seems truncated and offers a cozy interior.

Le donjon se situe à l'écart de centre, parfaitement visible depuis la route au sommet d'une butte qui surplombe l'étang.
Construite problement avant le XIIe siècles puis agrandi jusqu'au XVe siècle, il figure comme "Beau specimen de l'architecture
militaire du XIVe siècle" des monuments historiques de France. Il ne reste que le donjon de 5 étages, les ouvertures
témoignent de la présence d'un pont-levis. Le donjon était fort probablement celui de la famille de Chamborand, vassale du
vicompté de Bridiers.

The dungeon is located away from the center, perfectly visible from the road at the top of a mound overlooking the pond.
Built probably before the 12th century and expanded until the 15th century, it is listed as a "Beautiful specimen of
military architecture of the 14th century" of the historical monuments of France. Only the 5-story dungeon remains,
the openings testify to the presence of a drawbridge. The dungeon was most probably that of the Chamborand family,
vassals of the viscounty of Bridiers.
