Puy de Gaudy Oppidum
Le Puy de Gaudy témoigne des premiers habitats protégés sur les hauteurs, avant la création de la ville de Guéret dans la plaine.
Les pierres signalent un cercle d'occupation humaine datant du néolithique, puis les Gaulois en ont fait un oppidum. La période
romaine a fortifié le site qui a perduré jusqu'au IV-VI siècle environ.
L'ensemble offre une promenade au sommet parmi les vestiges avec des points de
vue sur l'est et le sud. Des sentiers de contours permettent de faire une belle randonnée paysagère.
The mount of Puy de Gaudy testifies to the first protected habitats on the heights, before the creation of the town of Guéret in the plain.
The stones indicate a circle of human occupation dating from the Neollithic period, then the Gauls made it an oppidum. The Roman period
fortified the site which lasted until about the IV-VI century.
The whole offers a walk at the top among the ruins with views over the east and south. Contour trails allow for a beautiful landscape hike.

Sur le sommet Puy du Gaudy, un plateau occupé du néolithique Moyen-Age vous invite à un voyage féérique entre les pierres du passé et
les arbres majestueux éparse dans une végétation rase. On s'imagine un décors du "Seigneur des anneaux" !
A partir du parking en contre-bas, le chemin longe la voie romaine et une fortification, passe le long de la Pierre du Trésor et s'ouvre
sur le plateau en moins de 15 minutes. Sur le plateau, les vestiges s'étalent du cercle néolitique, du moulin du IIIe siècle, des sarcophages
du début du Moyen-Age.

On the summit of the Puy du Gaudy, a plateau occupied by the Neolithic Middle Ages invites you to a magical journey between the
stones of the past and the majestic trees scattered in a thin vegetation. We imagine a setting for 'Lord of the Rings'!
From the parking below, the path follows the Roman road and a fortification, passes along the Treasure Stone and opens onto the plateau
in less than 15 minutes. On the plateau, the remains are spread out from the neolitic circle, the mill of the 3rd century,
the sarcophagi of the beginning of the Middle Ages.

Massif Central. Celui sur le sud est au bout du plateau et donne sur la forêt de sapin de Chabrières

The Mont du Puy de Gaudy offers wide, well-clear views. The one at the bottom of the field looks east to the Massif Central.
The one on the south is at the end of the plateau and overlooks the Chabrières fir forest
